... and I'm off!
I’ll be on vacation for the next ten days. Unemployed life is sooooo difficult. Be back in August.

I saw The Dark Night last night. Holy crap, it was amazing. For how excurciatingly long I felt the 2.5 hours of Sex and The City was, the 2.5 hours of Batman [terrifyingly] zoomed by. All throughout the movie, they kept saying stuff like “we get the heroes we deserve.” I think we, as a public, get the Batman movies we deserve. This one was much darker than any in the past… yet...

Reasons to never post your relationship status on...
oliviaisferosch: Having to go from, as I just saw on my “feed,” “engaged” to “single.” Ouch. Or even worse, “married” to “single.” Can you imagine? Yes. As someone who has gone through this (what’s up untagged photos) I could not agree more. Best to keep all sorts of relationship stuff to one’s self, and ones close family and friends. Your 378 Facebook friends need not know the...

I’m all about trendy human interest stories. But dudes getting their hair cut in the summer is neither trendy, nor [human] interesting.

Daily Pep Talk from a Best Friend →
oliviaisferosch: Sort of cheesy, sort of awesome. All of the reminders on the first page were well placed for today. Whatever, I’m down with dealing with the cheesy so you can get the awesome. A friend once told me, when you feel upset or hurt, treat yourself the same way you’d tread a good friend going through the same thing. I like this virtual version.

What, exactly, do I do all day?
I went to a party last night and met all sorts of new, lovely, people. As people tend to do when they meet a new person, they asked me what I do. I usually say “I’m a writer.” Or perhaps when I worked at Tails, I would say “I work at a magazine.” We got in this whole conversation about being a writer versus being a journalist. I never say I’m a journalist...

You really can go home
I went to The Old Pro last night with Adelle and a bunch of her Facebook friends. Apparently a bunch of people were celebrating their “faciversary” — one year at Facebook. Anyway, the bar was twice the size it was the last time I went there (and packed on a Wednesday night, to boot) and now sports a mechanical bull. Just like Hogs And Honeys, my favorite Chicago bar…

It’s 94 degrees here. And not an air conditioner to be found in my house, or, it seems, anywhere else. My oh so prudent parents do not seem to be affected in the same way I am, and feel no need to leave our house in search of air conditioning and sushi. It was never hard to find people who were interested in air conditioning and sushi in Chicago.

(via cagney) I wish there was Kuma’s in SF. Sigh. Last night I met up with Kenyon and we went to Beretta. Very yummy… but no Kuma burger, for sure.
