We had a release scheduled for last night. Because, you know, I like to have SOME time for myself, I didn’t check my email after 9 p.m. I watched TV, chatted with Dan, and went to sleep.
This morning, I woke up at 6 a.m. to work my 6–9 a.m. shift… and an email was sent out at 10:45 saying to release was canceled. Gah!
When you have a 16-year-old and he’s excited about doing something, you...

Caribbean scuba program eh? Sounds both service oriented AND educational. Ahem.

Whoa! Not only is Samantha gone, but the new doll almost overlaps her (Samantha was 1904; Rebecca is 1914). I knew they were retiring Samantha, but it didn’t hit home till I saw the NYTimes article with full lineup...

I wonder where you can order these dolls. I’ve been thinking of extending my doll collection to include money-counting men dolls.
Saturday morning ritual
One of my favorite things to do on the weekend when I inevitably wake up two hours before I want to (today it was at 7 a.m.) is to turn on the Food Network and zone out.
The interesting thing is that have a bunch of shows that air in the early morning hours on the weekend that don’t seem to air at other times.
One that I’ve really been enjoying is Five Ingredient Fix. It’s sort...

I can’t say enough about how much I love the design of this social network. A great example of the power of CSS in customizing an “out of the box” website.

Reflections on how to get great customer support
I’ve been at Ning for about 10 months now (can you believe it?) and in those 10 months, I’ve helped a lot of people with a lot or issues; from bugs, to feature requests, to missing data, and on and on.
I’ve also learned that there are some things you can do that will guarentee that you get great customer support. Since you can’t control who will be helping you, all you can...

Yes. Thanks, Urban Dictionary.
(via timoni)
I wonder if I’m allowed to add an entry in Urban Dictionary for this to read “one of Laura’s favorite drinks at Beretta.” Because the Jeepster is delicious.
I want to go on a short, four-day trip this summer. Preferably somewhere that is condusive to getting in a bathing suit and being by water, but also somewhere that perhaps could have some good restaurants and/or a museum or two. Any ideas?

I need to be more organized
I just found a rebate check in one of my 8 million messenger bag pockets for $30 from Motorola for my modem and router. It expired on May 5. So there’s that.
On the positive, a check from Time Out Chicago that I had to fight tooth and nail to get mailed to me was also next to it. For $238.
That’s more than half of the cost of getting my parents’ car un-towed. Score!

That’s just mean.
As someone who works in an industry where we focus on user customization, all I can officially say on the record is: good for her.

To clarify — Marco’s post isn’t mean. The webdesign is mean to the rest of us.
