2009 Year in Review
1. What did you do in 2009 that you’d never done before? Internet date. Run a 5k. Not move after a year in an apartment.
2. Did you keep your New Year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I still have bad posture, so no. This year’s resolutions include running a 10k and saving $10,000 (I like to go big).
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Nope.
4. Did anyone close to you die? No.
5. What places did you visit? Lots and lots of Napa and Sonoma; West Palm Beach, D.C., Baltimore, Seattle, Chicago and New York.
6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009? Not much. It was a pretty good year.
7. What dates from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? January 5, I had my first date with Dan. September 1 was the official date of my new job.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Promotion! And meeting/dating/falling in love with Dan.
9. What was your biggest failure? Got super in to running and then completely stopped for no reason.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? I got doored. My shin still hurts.
11. What was the best thing you bought? Bike for Dan. Clothes for me. I’m a simple girl with simple pleasures.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration? No one person comes to mind…
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? “The Family.” Sarah Palin. Glenn Beck.
14. Where did most of your money go? Anthropologie. Depressing, isn’t it?
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Dinner at Saison. Sweet Jesus that was good.
16. What song will always remind you of 2009? Hrmmm. So many bad/good songs. Probably something from Glee, as cheesy as that sounds.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? happier!.
b) thinner or fatter? Probably fatter. I don’t weigh myself.
c) richer or poorer? Richer. Yay for promotion
18. What do you wish you’d done more of? Be nicer to my mom. Go running. Volunteer.
19. What do you wish you’d done less of? Dick around on the Internet.
20. How did you spend Christmas in 2009? Avatar and Thai food with the family.
21. Did you fall in love in 2009? Yes! I’m a lucky lady.
22. What was your favorite TV program? Glee!
23. What did you do for your birthday in 2009? Dim sum, NOPA, party, Mumm, Bottega. I like celebrating.
24. What was the best book you read? I read a lot of books I wasn’t particularly enamored with. Sadly, I can’t remember one I liked enough to recommend it. I did read My Own Country, which was super interesting about the AIDs crisis in the early to mid ’80s.
25. What did you want and get? I wanted to leave my job in Advocacy and move on to new challenges and I certainly got that — and more. It’s been crazy but good. And on a personal note, I don’t think I would have said “I want a serious relationship” (I probably would have said I want to date), but I have that now, and I couldn’t be happier.
27. What was your favorite film of this year? I like playing Super Mario Bros. It’s on the TV, so it’s sort of like a movie.
28. Did you make some new friends this year? Yes; between work and Dan, I’ve been surrounded by new and interesting people.
29.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? Being a better daughter to my mom; seeing her thrive a little more.
30. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009? Skinny jeans, Anthropologie, and the introduction of heels.
31. What kept you sane? Dan, Kara, Brittin, Olivia. In no particular order or disorder.
32. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Bill Hader.
33. What political issue stirred you the most? Health care.
34. Who did you miss? Bobbie, immensely.
35. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009. In a relationships, it really can be that easy; making it hard doesn’t necessarily make it good.
