Republicans in Washington refuse to stand up to the fringe members of their party and state for the record that Obama is 1) a US citizen and 2) a christian (and not a muslim). Over and over again, reporters and others have pressed Republican leaders on this issue.
Speaker of the House John Boehner’s response:
“It’s not my job to tell the American people what to think. Our job in Washington is to listen to the American people. Having said that, the state of Hawaii has said that he was born there. That’s good enough for me. The president says he’s a Christian. I accept him at his word.”
Meanwhile, Boehner and crew seem to have zero issues telling the American people what to think about Planned Parenthood. If you listen to what their rhetoric, it sounds a little like this:
1. Planned Parenthood offers abortions.
2. Abortions are wrong.
3. Planned Parenthood therefor shouldn’t receive any federal funding.

Funny how the same people who don’t think it’s there place to tell the American people what to think about Obama’s religion or citizenship, think it’s totally fine to tell them what to think about a woman’s reproductive rights. No problem at all.

I encourage anyone who has ever taken advantage of any of the services Planned Parenthood has offered — I’ve had annual exams, STD testing and birth control prescribed there — to donate today.
